Brittany’s own personal health journey led her to her career in health care. At the age of nine, she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. After her experience as a patient, she knew she wanted to be a part of the team providing care, specifically in family medicine.
“My first RN position was in pediatrics. Then, most of my clinical rotations while in school to become a nurse practitioner were in family medicine,” Brittany says. “I got to see how rewarding it was to see all the members of a family and patients of all ages.”
Brittany is most passionate about taking care of people, helping them feel their best and encouraging to live their best life. “Seeing someone improve in any way and being part of that is the best part of this career in my opinion,” she says.
Brittany earned both her Master of Science in Nursing and her undergraduate degree at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. She has been a nurse practitioner at Runde Clinic, now Springfield Clinic Runde, since 2015, and prior to that, served as a registered nurse at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
