Ashley Gatons, APRN, CNP, provides care with the Springfield Clinic Family Medicine team and sees patients at Springfield Clinic Wabash. She collaborates with Dr. James Stegeman.

Ashley earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Chamberlain University in Addison, Ill., and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from MacMurray College in Jacksonville. She has more than 10 years of health care experience and has been with Springfield Clinic since 2020.

Ashley's desire to take on a career in health care stems from her own grandfather's experience in an extended care facility. "The compassion and genuine concern the nurses had for their patients warmed my heart," she says. "I knew I wanted to be a caregiver for someone's loved ones."

Starting as a registered nurse in an emergency room setting, Ashley realized she wanted to build deeper relationships with patients eventually transitioning to floor nursing and then to becoming a nurse practitioner in family medicine. 

In her free time, Ashley enjoys walking with her dogs, kayaking, home DIY projects, crafting and spending time with family and friends.
