Dr. Patel completed his fellowship at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. He completed his residency at Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and earned his medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago.

Dr. Patel developed a love of medicine early through his many visits to his father's retail pharmacy. It shared space with a multispecialty clinic, and he became very interested in the inner workings of health care.

"In particular I became convinced I wanted to become a physician, when my grandmother became ill with a terminal illness," he said. "In those uncertain times, I realized what great solace the physician was able to provide our family. Furthermore, my love for medicine was fostered by the challenges I faced in balancing the scientific recommendations of our health care team with my father's wishes as he battled cancer. Ultimately, in this journey, my focus has been in using my experiences and knowledge to do what is best for my patients."

Dr. Patel and his wife recently welcomed a third child and have been very busy lately. When he does have free time, he enjoys woodworking, listening to music and keeping up on current events.
