Gabor Matos, MD, is a part of the Springfield Clinic's Cardiology Department with over twenty years of experience providing cardiovascular care in central Illinois.
Dr. Matos earned his medical degree from the University of Pécs Medical School in Pécs, Hungary. He completed both his internal medicine residency and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill.
Gaining exposure to the health care field at a young age helped Dr. Matos decide his career path. "In my teenage years, I volunteered at a local hospital and decided I was going to be a doctor," he says.
Dr. Matos works to treat heart and vein conditions, providing:
Comprehensive cardiovascular care, including complex coronary artery and peripheral artery disease
Medical and cosmetic therapy for varicose veins and non-healing wounds
Renal artery denervation therapy for difficult-to-control hypertension
Treatment of aneurysms of the aorta and the arteries
"I really like helping people," he says. "I strive to build lasting relationships with my patients, so through our mutual efforts, we can achieve positive long-term results."
Passionate about providing care for his community, Dr. Matos finds joy in every day, "I go into work loving it and I go home with the feeling that I've done something good, worthy and valuable with my time," he explains.
In his free time, Dr. Matos enjoys traveling, spending time with his family and staying active through skiing, hiking, swimming, running and playing tennis.
