Springfield Clinic Laboratory is proud to announce the successful completion of six COLA (Commission on Office Laboratory Accreditation) inspections for our satellite labs and one CAP (College of American Pathologists) accreditation inspection for our Main Campus lab.
Both CAP and COLA are internationally recognized leaders in promoting laboratory excellence and improving the quality of services provided by hospital and clinic labs. Earning accreditation from these organizations demonstrates our commitment to the highest standards in laboratory quality, patient care, operational efficiency and the accuracy and reliability of lab results.
"We are incredibly proud of our team for their outstanding performance during this year's inspections," says Joe Heigert, Laboratory Director. "By consistently exceeding the expectations of our accrediting bodies, we’re able to stay ahead of the rapid advancements in laboratory medicine and technology. Most importantly, by adhering to the rigorous standards set by CAP and COLA, we remain aligned with Springfield Clinic’s mission of providing the highest quality health care to the people of central Illinois. This recognition extends beyond our laboratory—we deeply appreciate the support of the entire Springfield Clinic team for making this possible."
Medical Director John Gao, MD, PhD, FCAP, added, "Our laboratories rank among the top CAP-accredited labs nationwide. I’m incredibly proud of our team’s hard work and grateful for the support from administration and other departments. Thank you!"
